I was given a nice international cookbook when I lived in Australia and it contained a recipe, allegedly from Canada, called "Mennonite toast." The dish was what I know as "French toast." So I wasn't sure if it was really called Mennonite toast in Canada, or if that was an Australian term for the Canadian dish.
(Because elsewhere in the same cookbook there are recipes that call for capsicum, for example--even in American recipes, which, if they were animate, would be dreadfully confused by what the hell a capsicum might be, because they're called simply peppers in the U.S.)
Apparently it is not an Australianism. :)

Generally French toast in Australia, though that's not to say that cookbook writers don't pretend a few airs and graces.
